Written By: Judith December 11, 2009 One Comment

jp_gian_cuttersDallas Voice contributing writer and former YFT Board of Director, Renee Baker, published a fascinating article about young LGBT people who have overcome being “cutters.” Two members of YFT were brave enough to share thier stories. Please click here to read this insightful and important article.

At YFT, we have many resources if any of you are struggling with self mutilation. Not only do we have the Survivors Group which breaks out every Thursday evening during BIG Group at 7:30pm, but we also have free individual counseling.

If you would like information on either, please do not hesitate to contact us: judithd@youthfirsttexas.org; 214-879-0400.

I wanted to say how wonderfully well Renee covered the crisis of cutting. It is an anxious cry and a violent act against self.

I enjoyed visiting with Renee and I encourage anyone who needs to get help to reach out before hurting into yourself. I would also add, as a professional pastoral counselor, that there is a Divine power that loves and accepts all of us, just as we are. If you are reading these words, you are loved exactly as you are.

    Best regards,
Touch base if I can help,
    Dr. Reece
