LGBTQ Youth Support

The following organizations support YFT andLGBTQ youth. These resources are given to the youth as places to use for specific issues in their lives.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) – “Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from alcoholism.” http://www.aa.org/

Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD) – “ANAD is the oldest non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating the problems of eating disorders.” http://www.anad.org/

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) – “Narcotics Anonymous is an international, community-based of recovering drug addict…” http://www.na.org/

National Network for Youth – “The National Network is committed to ensuring that opportunities for growth and development be available to youth everywhere.” http://www.nn4youth.org/

PFLAG – “[Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays] promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with adverse society; education, to enlightened an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights.” http://www.pflag.org/

Planned Parenthood – “Planned Parenthood provides quality health care and services…offers medically accurate information… [and] advances effective health policies.” http://www.plannedparenthood.org/

Pride Institute – “Providing the LGBT community a comfortable, safe alternative to traditional [mental health] treatment programs for over 20 years.” http://www.pride-institute.com/

The Promise House – “Through crisis intervention, emergency shelter, transitional living, education, counseling, street outreach, and advocacy programs, our youth gain the tools they need to succeed.” http://www.promisehouse.org/

The Trevor Project – “The Trevor Project operates the only nationwide, around-the-clock crisis and suicide prevention helpline for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth.” http://www.thetrevorproject.org/
